What a Life!
What a life indeed. I think the key word in community is FAMILY. The city of Rocklin has so much to offer any family. If you enjoy outdoor recreation, this is the place to be. Whether its baseball, golf, fishing, tennis, hiking or anything under the sun, Rocklin and Placer County have it all. Maybe you prefer to stay indoors. All the best in shopping, bowling, movie theaters, fitness centers and so much more, are right here in Rocklin and Placer County.

WOODSIDE PROJECT
In 1968, my family moved to Rocklin. We lived in a 4 year old subdivision called Woodside. It was a quiet neighborhood conveniently nestled off Taylor Rd. near Interstate 80. We were surrounded by cattle fields and oak trees. Woodside was one big family. The neighborhood would regularly assemble work parties to keep the entrance painted and weed free. There was a tremendous sense of pride in homeownership. Once a month they would have block parties where streets were literally blocked off, refreshments were served and the music played as parents and children danced in the streets. Whether for work or play, nearly every family participated.

Although times have changed, I don't believe pride of ownership fades. I coach kids from Woodside. My children attend school with friends from Woodside. My brother is raising his family in Woodside. This neighborhood means a lot to me. That's why I am heading a project to re-construct a new entrance to the Woodside neighborhood at Taylor Road. After 40 years, it appears a face lift is necessary. In the weeks ahead I will be working with local businesses and neighborhood volunteers to help clean the area and rebuild each 5 foot x 20 foot wall. Woodside gave me a wonderful childhood in Rocklin, now it's time give a little something back.

UPDATE: On Saturday, January 14th, 2006 we dedicated the new Woodside entrance to families past, present and future. Joining me and the residents of Woodside were Rocklin’s Mayor George Magnusson, City Councilman Brett Storey, Councilwoman Kathy Lund, Supervisor Jim Holmes, Rocklin Chamber of Commerce as well as representatives from contributing local businesses.

I would like to thank those residents who have generously given their time and efforts to help with this project. Thank you for your patience and please support the businesses that made this Woodside Project a reality.
